Lee was originally drafted #2 overall by Minnesota but was declared a free agent when the Twins didn’t offer him a contract within 15 days of the draft.
He signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks and made his debut with them in 1998.

Happy 1990s Birthday to Dann Bilardello, who spent eight years in the bigs, primarily as a backup catcher and later became a minor league manager.
Happy 1990s Birthday to Rob Murphy, who pitched in the bigs for 11 years and was part of the package, along with Nick Esasky, the Reds sent to Boston in exchange for Todd Benzinger and others.
He led the N.L. in games pitched in 1988 with 76 and he appeared in 87 games the year before that.
