Bryan Harvey triples his salary when he agrees to a one-year deal worth $1.04 million with the Angels. He leads the A.L. in saves in 1991 with 46.

The Rangers sign Billy Ripken as a free agent.
He spends two seasons in Texas before signing with Cleveland as a free agent. He returns to Texas in 1997 and wraps up his career with Detroit.

The A’s sign Kevin Seitzer as a free agent.
He hits .255 in 73 games in Oakland before being released and returning to Milwaukee.

The Angels sign Dwight Smith as a free agent.
He hits .262 in 45 games before being dealt to Baltimore.

The Royals sign Dave Henderson to a one-year free agent deal. He hits .347 in 56 games in is final big-league season.


2/1/95
Talks resume between the major league owners and the Players’ Association in attempt to resolve the on-going strike. The owners agree to drop their demand for a salary cap and replace it with a proposal for a luxury tax.
