Mike Devereaux signs a one-year deal with the Orioles worth $3.25 million, a $2 million raise over 1991 when he was named the most valuable Oriole. Devereaux hit .260 with 19 homers. He backs that up with a .276 average, 24 homers, and 107 RBI in 1992.

He goes 1-4 and leads the A.L. with 33 saves.

The Twins sign Roberto Kelly as minor-league free agent deal with a spring training invite.
Kelly hits .308 in 173 games for the Twins over parts of two seasons before being traded to Seattle.

They cut him in March and his career is over.

Cleveland signs Geronimo Berroa to a one-year free agent deal worth $2.2 million.
After hitting 26 homers in 1997, Berroa struggles in Cleveland and is traded to Detroit in June for Dave Roberts and Tim Worrell.

The Braves sign Dennis Martinez to a minor-league deal with a spring training invite.
He enters the season just two wins shy of becomming the all-time winninest Latin American pitcher in history but hasn’t pitched since May of 1997 after being released by the Mariners. He sticks and wins four games for the Braves in 1998.

Jimmy Key announces his retirement after battling shoulder injuries. The 37-year-old pitched in the postseason with the Blue Jays, Orioles and Yankees. He retires with 186 wins and two rings.
