The Reds trade Jeff Brantley to the Cardinals for Dmitri Young.

The Braves trade Rob Bell, Denny Neagle, and Michael Tucker to the Reds for Bret Boone and Mike Remlinger.
Neagle goes 17-7 for the Reds over two seasons. Boone plays one season in Atlanta and is dealt to the Padres.

11/10/99
The Phillies trade Adam Eaton, Carlton Loewer, and Steve Montgomery to the Padres for Andy Ashby.
Ashby began his career in Philadelphia but was left unprotected in the expansion draft and was selected by Colorado.
He was dealt to the Padres in 1993 and won 70 games there before returning to the Phillies.
Unfortunately for Ashby and the Phils, he goes 4-7 before being dealt to Atlanta.

N.L. owners vote 9-4 against allowing Bob Lurie to sell the team to a group that would have moved the team to St. Petersburg.

Dennis Eckersley 1992 Bowman Baseball Card

Dennis Eckersley is named the winner of the A.L. Cy Young Award after recording a career-high 51 saves for Oakland.
He is the first reliever to win the award since Willie Hernandez in 1984.

Frank Thomas is a unanimous choice for A.L. MVP after batting .317 with 41 homers and 128 RBI for the White Sox.

Astros owner Drayton McLane tells the fans of Houston that they need to support the team or they will likely move.
There was speculation that McLand would sell the team to a group that would have moved it to Northern Virginia but McLane didn’t feel he had the votes to approve the sale.
